Dora (1-1) at Vaughn (1-1)

• When: 1 p.m. Saturday

• Last year: Dora shut out Vaughn 64-0 at Dora

• Last week: The Coyotes won at Reserve 66-14, while Vaughn posted a 60-32 victory at Floyd.

• Of note: The defending 6-man state runnerup Coyotes got back on track last week after losing a rematch of last year’s state final to Hondo in the opener. … The Eagles have some decent size and speed, Dora coach Mason McBee said, adding that the teams scrimmaged in preseason. “It’ll be interesting to see how much better they’ve gotten the last couple of weeks,” he said. … While Dora is hoping to get about four players back in the next few weeks, the Eagles don’t have much depth, McBee said, with “seven or eight” players on their roster.

Hondo (2-0) at Floyd (0-1)

• When: 1 p.m. Saturday

• Last year: Teams did not meet

• Last week: The Eagles beat San Jon 58-18; the Broncos lost to Vaughn 60-32

• Of note: The Broncos, who were 8-man going into the season, played their first game as a 6-man team last week. … Floyd coach Steve Foust said his team came through the game relatively unscathed, although one player is questionable for this game. This game will be a major challenge. “For us to be in the game, (senior quarterback) W.T. (Whitecotton) is going to have to play well. We’re going to try to keep it simple and just try to get a little better.”
