The first set was extremely close — there were 17 ties and neither side led by more than two points. Kills by Deterding and Erin Fisher broke a 23-23 tie and gave the Lady Chaps the win.

LCU opened the first lead of more than two points with a 7-0 run in the second set to go ahead 11-4. Deterding had five kills during the surge, and the other points came on ENMU attack errors, and the Zias never got closer than three points the rest of the set.

The Zias stormed to a 7-1 lead in the third game behind two kills from Lawson and back-to-back service aces by freshman defensive specialist Lindsay Bost. LCU countered with an 8-1 surge to take the lead, only to see the Zias go up 15-11 with the help of three straight errors by the Lady Chaps.

LCU pulled even at 16-16, but five consecutive Zias points — including two aces by junior setter Kennedi Catano — put ENMU back in control at 22-17. The Lady Chaps scored the next six points to move in front, then after an LCU service error they finished it out on a Deterding kill and another ENMU attack error.
