Club Notes — Oct. 27

Daughters of the American Revolution

The El Portal chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Oct. 12 at the Roosevelt County Historical Museum at Eastern New Mexico university in Portales.

Cori Snobble and Vicky Stratton were hostesses.

After touring the museum, the business meeting was conducted by Regent Vicky Stratton. Jessie Strauch suggested we enter a float in the Clovis Veterans Day parade on Nov. 9.

The motion was made and seconded to change our monthly meeting time that day so that members can participate in the parade.

Carol Nash reported that she had distributed information to several schools regarding the American History Essay contest. The topic this year is to pretend you are a child during the colonial fight for freedom and discuss how the war is affecting your life.

Other members in attendance were Nancy Bauder, Pam Wallace, Wenonah Hunton, Nancy Streseman and Katelyn Hawkins.

The nominating committee put forth names for the 2014 officers.
