The Clovis Community Band will be sharing the sounds of John Philip Sousa with Clovis tonight.

A local tradition for more than 30 years, the concert will feature Sousa’s “Mother Hubband March,” “Black Horse Troop March,” “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and a compilation of the composer’s three arrangements of “Yankee Doodle.”

“We’ll also be playing some stuff from ‘Star Wars,’” said band conductor Jim Barnard. He said there will also be a tribute to trumpeter and singer Louis Armstrong.

Barnard said the band is made up of mostly adults with some youth musicians, but is open to anyone who would like to play. The band holds several concerts throughout the year, including a Christmas concert and a summer concert.

While the John Philip Sousa concert is usually put on at the Lyceum Theatre, this year’s concert will be held at Bella Vista Elementary’s Braveheart Performing Arts Center.
