Dora football playoff capsule — Nov. 8

Dora (8-2) at Hondo (8-1)
• When: 6 p.m. today in a 6-man semifinal playoff game
• Last year: The teams split, Dora winning during the regular season at Hondo and the Eagles upending the Coyotes at Dora in the state championship game. They met in this year’s season opener at Dora, with the Eagles taking a 60-26 victory.
• Last week: Dora crushed Animas 55-0 in a quarterfinal game at home, while Hondo enjoyed a first-round bye.
• Of note: Dora is seeded third and Hondo second. The winner gets either fourth-seeded San Jon or No. 1 Lake Arthur, who also play at 6 p.m. today at Lake Arthur. If Dora wins, the Coyotes would ostensibly have to travel to Lake Arthur. … Coyotes coach Mason McBee noted his team was shorthanded in the earlier meeting. “I don’t know how much they’ve changed (since then),” McBee said of the Eagles. “They might’ve saved some things for the playoffs.” …  McBee said the Eagles will see a different team this time. “I feel like we just need to be able to block and tackle,” he said. “If we can do that, I can see us running away with the game. Plus, we’ll have to do the little things.” … Maxpreps.com shows Dora averaging just over 50 points a game, and Hondo 63.6.
