LUBBOCK — Lubbock Christian put 12 players in the scoring column Tuesday night, including five in double figures, and rolled to a 101-66 women’s basketball victory over Eastern New Mexico University in the Lady Chaps’ home opener.
Senior forward Emily Pool went 4-for-4 from the 3-point line and finished with 18 points for LCU (2-0), which led 56-28 at halftime and cruised to the victory.
Sophomore forward Nelsha Peterson scored 13 points for the Zias (0-3), while junior forward Tori Tucker and junior point guard Lakeeyscia Griffin added 12 points apiece.
The Zias opened a quick 7-2 lead behind seven points from Tucker, capped by a 3-pointer at the 17:03 mark. That would be ENMU’s last points for more than four minutes as the Lady Chaps took control with a 15-0 run that included back-to-back 3-pointers by Pool and seven points from sophomore guard Haley Fowler.
LCU shot 46 percent from the floor, including 15-of-32 from 3-point range with seven players contributing treys. The Zias were held to 37 percent and went 4-for-20 from long range.
