SPOKANE, Wash. — Eastern New Mexico University junior Mikey Davila will represent the Greyhounds in Saturday’s NCAA Division II national cross country meet.
Davila qualified as the third individual in the South Central Region meet on Nov. 9 at Canyon, Texas, placing 23rd overall with a time of 31 minutes, 20 seconds over 10 kilometers.
Saturday’s men’s race will be a 10K and is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. (MST).
Thirty-two teams, plus 26 individual qualifiers, are scheduled for the men’s race. Defending champion Adams State is looking for a fifth team title in six years.
Davila, from Moreno Valley, Calif., ran an 8K time of 25:01.22 in the South Plains Cross Country Festival on Oct. 5 at Levelland, Texas, the seventh-fastest time at that distance in school history.
ENMU had made back-to-back team appearances in the nationals. Then-senior Isaiah Samoei finished eighth in last year’s event, settting an ENMU 10K record with a time of 29:25.8.
