Eastern New Mexico University has adopted a new public safety policy for minors, according to a press release.
The policy requires that anyone under age 18 and not a university student must be accompanied and supervised by a parent, legal guardian or event facilitator at all times while on ENMU property.
This includes Greyhound Arena and its exterior property, Golden Library, the Natatorium, computer labs and other facilities.
“One of the primary concerns of Eastern New Mexico University is the safety and welfare of young people who visit campus,” said ENMU Police Chief Brad Mauldin in the press release. “Recently, there has been an influx of area youth using university facilities without being accompanied or supervised by an adult. This happens most frequently when the public schools are not in session or on early release days.”
The policy is effective Jan. 2.
