Last time out: The Lady Rams beat Class 4A No. 8 Roswell High 53-37 on Thursday at Roswell. The Lady Wildcats completed a weekend sweep in Albuquerque with a 57-48 win on Saturday at Class 5A No. 8 La Cueva.

Of note: Both teams are ranked No. 1 by — Clovis in Class 5A, Portales in Class 3A. They are ranked 1-2 overall in New Mexico by … Portales has gone 6-0 this season against Texas opponents. The Lady Rams’ only loss was a 59-46 decision to Class 5A No. 2 Mayfield in the finals of the Moriarty Invitational. … Clovis, which ironically also owns a 53-37 win over Roswell High in the finals of the Mel Otero Invite at Rio Rancho in December, is averaging 66 ppg this season and allowing 35.6; Portales averages 52.5 ppg and allows 36. The Lady Cats have held eight of their opponents under 25 points. … Williams leads Class 5A in scoring (23.1 ppg), and also averages six rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.1 steals. Gomez scores 12.2 ppg while Jones averages 10.2 ppg and leads the team in rebounding (7.3 rpg) and blocks (1.4 bpg). … Kambrey Blakey and Sheraya Cox, two of six sophomores on the PHS roster, lead the Lady Rams in scoring at 15 and 11.5 ppg, respectively.
