Last meetings: The Rams swept Texico last year, 66-63 in Texico and 55-54 at the RAC, both decided in the final seconds. They lost at home to Moriarty 56-51 last season.

Last time out: The Rams lost to Class 3A No. 2 St. Michael’s 44-25 on Saturday in the St. Mike’s Shootout. Texico hasn’t played since beating Melrose 63-46 for the EPAC championship on Jan. 11 at Greyhound Arena, while the Pintos are coming off a 73-54 home loss to Artesia last Friday.

Of note: Texico is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A. Only five of the Wolverines’ games have been decided by less than 10 points, the closest an 80-75 home win over the Hobbs JV which ended a long JV winning streak for the Eagles. … Senior F/G Miguel Reyna averages around 20 points for Texico. … Both the Wolverines and Rams have posted two wins over Friona this season. Texico routed Farwell 59-37 in the finals of the Steers’ tournament in December, while the Rams dropped a 57-56 decision to Farwell in the first round of the Wildcat Classic at Littlefield on Dec. 26. … Moriarty will be playing just its fifth home game of the season (1-3). … Not only are the Class 4A Pintos sitting squarely at .500, they are dead even for the season with their opponents in points (897-897).

Last meetings: The Lady Rams swept Texico last season, winning 45-24 on the road and 28-19 at home. They routed Moriarty 65-31 on Dec. 13 in the Lady Pintos’ tournament.

Last time out: PHS lost at Class 5A No. 1 Clovis 63-43 on Tuesday. Texico’s last outing was a 46-35 win at Elida on Jan. 16, while Moriarty is coming off a 45-40 home loss to Miyamura on Jan. 18.

Of note: With Texico ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, this will be the second consecutive 1-vs.1 matchup for the Lady Rams. … Tuesday’s loss ended a nine-game winning streak for PHS, whose only losses have been to the top two teams in 5A (Mayfield 59-46). … Texico’s top player is sophomore F Brianna Reyna, Miguel’s sister, who also averages around 20 ppg. She has scored about 40 percent of Texico’s points this season. … The Lady Wolverines have ended the last three seasons against Navajo Pine, losing to the Lady Warriors in the 2011 state 2A final, beating them for the 2012 title and losing to the eventual 2A champions again in last year’s semifinals. … Moriarty’s last three games have been decided by a total of 11 points (1-2). … The teams have two common opponents — PHS has beaten Bernalillo and West Las Vegas handily, while the Lady Pintos won at Bernalillo 45-44 and lost at West Las Vegas 46-36.
