Family burned out

A trailer home fire east of Portales on Friday has displaced a family for five, according to a fire official.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire, which started about noon, caused major structural damage to a double-wide trailer in the 2000 block of East 12th Street, according to Shannon Lee, battalion chief with the Portales Fire Department.

He said no one was home at the time the fire started. Lee said the cause of the fire has not been determined.

Lee said it took firefighters about 2 1/2 hours to extinguish the fire.

The family a place to stay and Red Cross was assisting, according to Lee.
