Clovis Media Inc. picks up awards

DUMAS, Texas — Clovis Media Inc. newspapers picked up 14 awards Saturday during the Panhandle Press Association’s awards banquet, held in Dumas, Texas.

The Clovis News Journal picked up 12 awards, eight of them first place. The Portales News-Tribune picked up two awards.

The CNJ also picked up the Division II general excellence award for the association’s larger-circulation papers. It is the paper’s third straight and 10th since 2002.

The Muleshoe Journal won 10 awards in Division I, including three first-place honors.

The conference was the 104th held by the association with the next scheduled for April 2-4, 2015 in Amarillo.

 

The following awards were received by Clovis Media Inc. newspapers:

Clovis News-Journal

• First place — Human interest photo, sports writing, front page layout, spot news photo, society and lifestyles, feature stories, editorials, sports photo.

• Second place — News writing, humorous column, website.

• Third place — Serious column.

 

Portales News-Tribune

• First place — News writing.

• Second place — Feature story.

 

The following awards were received by area newspapers:

Muleshoe Journal

• First place — Sports photos, sports writing, humorous column.

• Second place — Headline writing.

• Third place — Advertising initiative, news photo, news writing, feature story, serious column, best editorial.
