Staff report

The Eastern New Mexico Department of Music will host a spring wind symphony and symphonic band concert Sunday.

Director of Bands Dustin Seifert and Assistant Director of Bands Benjamin Fairfield will conduct both bands during the concert.

Gary Garner, director of bands emeritus at West Texas A&M University, will be a guest conductor for the show. Garner was the marching band director at the University of Southern California before spending 39 years at WTAMU between 1963 and 2002.

The concert, which has taken place for decades at the school, will also feature the world premiere performance of ENMU faculty member Mark Dal Porto’s “Fantasy on Scarborough Fair.”

“The concert will feature repertoire that will appeal to everyone,” said Seifert.

The show is free and open to the public.
