Cannon Air Force Base is offering local school teachers tips Monday and Tuesday aimed at providing insight on how to work with children whose parents are deployed.
The 27th Special Operations Wing is scheduled to host Teachers Understanding Deployment Operations (TUDO), an event designed to give educators increased comprehension of the effects deployments have on military families, according to a press release from Cannon’s public affairs office.
The event at the base is open to members of the Clovis and Portales school districts.
According to the release, teachers will process through a Personnel Deployment Function line, just as service members preparing for a deployment would. They will then travel to their deployed location: Camp TUDOS.
Upon arrival, participants will be briefed by representatives from the Mental Health Clinic and Family Advocacy Program. Additionally, Cannon’s School Liaison Officer will be on hand to provide supplementary information and guidance, according to the release.
