Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:
Wednesday
• At 5:32 p.m., officers responded to call in the 1500 block of south Abilene in reference to a burglary. A man said as he was leaving for work at 7 a.m., he discovered his work vehicle had been broken into. The man said a laptop computer was missing along with a GPS and wires to an Xbox gaming system. Due to lack of evidence, the case is being filed as inactive.
Thursday
• At 1:11 a.m., officers responded to a call in the 700 block of east Brazos. The woman at the residence told officers that her boyfriend became upset when they started talking about her ex-boyfriend and held her tightly then started to call her names. The woman then hit her boyfriend in the face, giving him a black eye and a scratch on his nose.
Officers found no physical evidence on the woman’s body of her having been held tightly. She was arrested and charged with battery against a household member.
• A resident filed a report Thursday morning for stolen property. A woman said she had recently purchased a wheelchair at a garage sale. She said the wheelchair was taken from her porch some time during the night. The resident showed officers wheelchair tracks leading south from her porch. The woman could not provide any information about brand or serial number for the chair.
Friday
• Friday, a Portales resident filed a report that her vehicle had been broken into around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. The complainant said the doors were unlocked. She said a stereo had been taken. No physical evidence could be found.
