DURANT, Okla. — Second baseman Scott Hancock’s first home run of the season, a three-run shot, capped a five-run Southeastern Oklahoma sixth and the Savage Storm went on to a 15-7 victory over Easter New Mexico University on Saturday, completing a sweep of their four-game Lone Star Conference baseball series.
The Savage Storm (8-3, 5-3 LSC), which beat ENMU 3-1 and 6-2 on Friday, took Saturday’s first game 7-6, rallying from a 5-0 second-inning deficit.
Southeastern pounded out 28 hits and ENMU (7-7, 3-5) had 25 in Saturday’s twin bill. The Greyhounds have now dropped five in a row.
ENMU opened a 6-3 lead in the second game, getting a two-run double from Seth Clabaugh in a three-run third and then adding single runs in the fourth and fifth. Southeatsern then chased ENMU starter Russ Campbell (1-1) in a four-run fifth which gave the Savage Storm a 7-6 lead.
The hosts all but put the game out of reach in the sixth, getting a two-run double from designated hitter Mike McCollum before Hancock made it 12-6 with his blast to left field off ENMU’s Doug McIntyre.
The Hounds got a run back in the eighth inning, but the Savage Storm countered with three in the bottom half, helped by two Hounds errors.
