Dec. 8, 1942: The Portales Daily News: Two Roosevelt County boys had completed an intensive course in aviation mechanics at Shepherd Field, Texas. They were Pvt. Ted Williamson of Milnesand and Pvt. Lonnie W. Butler of Portales.

Jan. 17, 1968

According to the Portales News-Tribune, a sandy hill three miles east of Portales will soon be the center of a 60-mile circle for relayed television transmission from an Amarillo station. Steel work was completed Sunday on a 724-foot high antenna which will replace KFDW’s installation in Clovis.

July 24, 1952

The Portales City Council was asked to give Portales citizens another chance to pave their streets on a volunteer basis. The rates for a 32-foot street were $4.95 and up to an 80-foot street was $9.35 and would be completed by a contractor.
