Feb. 18, 1954: The Portales Tribune: On Tuesday, Mrs. Alvin Click began her new duties with KICA after being a news broadcaster with KENM for many months, and gave a news program at 12:45. The studio was moved to the second floor of the Cal Boykin Hotel.

Ronda Russell, 17, was crowned as Roosevelt County Fair Queen, according to Portales news archives. She was selected to take over the duties during the fair the year prior.
