April 25, 1950: Ten teams had signed up to participate in the Portales summer softball league. Squads from Dora and Causey were among the competitors. Admission was 10 cents for league games, 25 cents for exhibition games.

Freedom New Mexico Eastern New Mexico University has canceled a pair of games Monday and Tuesday against the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Although the games could be rescheduled at a later date, nothing has been announced at this point.
