Their turn: New Mexico soldiers in Bataan deserve honor

U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., reintroduced legislation Thursday to honor the veterans who defended Bataan and suffered through the Death March with the Congressional Gold Medal. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., was a cosponsor of the bill. Here’s snippets from the Udall’s press release.

June 26, 1960: Alvin Stevenson, a 40-year-old Elida rancher, was in the hospital following a weekend fall from a windmill. He suffered five broken ribs and a broken collarbone.
